Forefront's Democracy Initiative
Recognizing the importance and strength of nonprofits providing services to citizens all over the state, Forefront is dedicated to creating a sector where leaders are given the tools, training, and space to advocate for their communities. Forefront’s Democracy Initiative program enlisted, educated, and trained nonprofit leaders and legislators across Illinois to encourage their constituents to participate in the 2020 Census, register and turn out to vote, and remain civically engaged. It consistsed of two main initiatives: Civic engagement and Census 2020 outreach.

IL Count Me In 2020 Statewide Advocacy Coalition
Forefront convened this coalition, aligning with the national Leadership Council on Civil Human Rights' Census 2020 Campaign. The coalition was compromised of 40 leading Illinois nonprofit organization representing our diverse landscape.
IL Count Me In 2020 Funders' Collaborative
The Funders' Collaborative was a collaborative of Illinois foundations that joined together to support coordinated census outreach in hard-to-count communities across the state. Co-chairs of the Funders’ Collaborative, Mark Murray of the Field Foundation and Deborah Bennett of Polk Bros. Foundation, lead a campaign that secured contributions for a pooled fund of $1.65 million.
